WHY SO SERIOUS? Jan. 4

WHY SO SERIOUS?
January 4th – January 20th, 2013
Opening Reception Fri. January 4th, 7:30-10pm

Some may feel that winter in New York City is a particularly bleak and less than excitable time. A side affect can be reclusive and introspective behavior, especially amongst artists. What better prescription for those ailments than laughter and the obliteration of the serious and emotional barriers that can separate spectacularly hung art in pristine galleries and the general public?

FRIENDS OF FRIENDS, JULY 13

Welcome to Weeknights, a unique gallery space in Bushwick run out of an artist studio. We hold month-long exhibitions in hopes of selling and promoting innovative, clever, ambitious, original, and aesthetically beautiful work by interesting artists. 2-3 person shows are most common, with the occasional solo or group show. We are always accepting submissions – please email weeknightsgallery@gmail.com with medium-res jpgs, website, and other relevant information for consideration.

Weeknights is opening with the inaugural exhibition Friends of Friends on Friday July 13 from 7-10pm. This group show, comprised of 20 artists fitting small work into less than 200 square feet, will feature a variety of work ranging from the subtle, domestic photographs of Julianna Slutsky and Kylen Gillette to the lusciously thick paintings of Nicole Aiello and Theresa Daddezio to humorous anti-art by Andrew Birk and Mark Blumenthal. Join this diverse group of artists and friends for a much anticipated evening celebrating the inception of this new gallery space and all the ambitious work made by established, emerging, and outsider artists alike.
